At the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits in Phnom Penh in November 2022, the ASEAN leaders agreed in principle to admit Timor-Leste to be the 11th member of ASEAN. Although no date was given yet for the membership, the 2022 decision constituted by far the most significant move since 2011, when Timor-Leste landed its application to the regional organisation.

After a first week in Chiang Mai, The winter school Urban Theories Across Borders (UTAB) moved to Yogyakarta, Java, Indonesia. It is hosted by the Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Gadjah Mada, one of the most prestigious institutions in Indonesia. Tomorrow, participants will discover the culture of this royal city whose square shape is reminiscent of Chiang Mai.

L’IRASEC a participé à cet évènement organisé par le LFIB pour présenter les métiers en lien avec recherche en sciences humaines et sociales. Nous avons présenté le champ disciplinaire, les thématiques, formations et débouchés.

Jimmy Stef, a doctoral student associated with IRASEC, brilliantly defended his thesis on Thursday 8 December, entitled “The internationalization of higher education in Southeast Asia. Between transnational education, privatization and making of local and international elites : the case of Singapore and Malaysia”.

The IRASEC Doctoral Workshops in Social Sciences and Humanities, Winter school 2022 Urban Theories Across Borders (UTAB) just begun at the Faculty of Architecture of Chiang Mai University.
