Michitake ASO
Dr Michitake Aso has commenced an 1-year joint appointment as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Science, Technology, and Society Cluster in ARI and Tembusu College with effect from 2 September 2011.
Dr Aso received his BS in Engineering from the University of California-Berkeley, and his MA and PhD in the History of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on environmental history, the history of science, and medical history in Vietnam during the 19th and 20th centuries. His dissertation entitled "Forests without Birds: Science, Environment, and Health in French Colonial Vietnam" examined industrial agriculture during the French colonial period. He is starting a project on the history of popular perceptions of climate in Vietnam.
