Éric Frécon has a PhD in political science (Sciences Po, 2007) and lives in Singapore. He is an associate researcher at IRASEC as well as at IRSEM (Institut de recherche stratégique de l’École militaire) and at the Naval School, where he taught for six years. He is now a visiting academic at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and associate at SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences). From 2012 to 2019, he coordinated the Southeast Asia Observatory-DGRIS at Asia Centre ; from 2008 to 2011, he worked as a researcher at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS, Singapore).
He is, among others, the author of Chez les pirates d’Indonésie (Fayard, 2011), co-editor of Asie de l’Est et Asie du Sud-Est : de l’émergence à la puissance (Éditions Ellipses, 2015) and co-editor of "La Chine et l’Asie du Sud-Est : vers un nouvel ordre régional ?", Monde chinois - Nouvelle Asie, Summer 2018, n°54-55.
