On 8 March 2022, Niramon SERISAKUL, a long-time partner of IRASEC, was awarded the Palmes académiques by the French Ambassador to Thailand, HE Thierry Mathou.
Niramon SERISAKUL is the Director of the Urban Design and Development Centre (UDDC) and Professor of Urban Planning in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok. She has a long history of working to make Thai cities, especially Bangkok, more pedestrian-friendly and to create green spaces, working in close consultation with local communities involved in urban projects. In recent years, the UDDC has completed projects in Bangkok such as the Sky Park on the Chao Phraya River, the Green Bridge near Lumphini Park, and the development of a promenade along the riverbank in the old Kadeejeen district. The driving concept of his approach is "Walkable city".
Niramon SERISAKUL has been collaborating for many years with universities and research centres in France, and with IRASEC in Bangkok, as well as with the French Embassy in Thailand and the Alliance Française de Bangkok.
