Conference at the Bali Tourism Board

On April 26, 2017, the Conference "Coastal areas governance in the context of rapid urbanization and climate change in Southeast Asia" was held in Bali, at the Bali Tourism Board (BTB), with four presentations given by Dr. Christine Cabasset And Dr. Agung Suryawan Wiranatha (Udayana University - UNDP Bali Indonesia), Dr. Vilas Nitivattananon (Asian Institute of Technology - AIT Thailand). The objective of the conference was to disseminate the first results of the research program of the same name selected at the beginning of 2016 for two years by the Regional Forum on Climate Change (RFCC, AIT Thailand).

Based on several case studies in Indonesia, Thailand and Timor-Leste, and crossing diverse themes in the fields of urban, tourism and climate change, the objective of this program is to provide a comparative analysis Between sites and between countries. Opened by Dr. I Made Sendra, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism at Udayana University, and Dr. Agung Suryawan Wiranatha, Director of the Center for Research on Culture and Tourism at Udayana University, in the presence of Mrs. Amandine Salmon, Director of the Alliance Française in Bali, and Michel Picard (CASE - CNRS / EHESS), this first session brought together some thirty people from the public and private sectors working in tourism in Bali, such as: And regional planning, programming and tourism development, the Bali government's public works department, professional hotel associations, and associations involved in local tourism development. The questions posed at the end of this presentation demonstrated the participants' interest in this research program. The organizers also warmly thanked the partners of this event, the Bali Tourism Bureau, the Alliance Française de Bali, the French Institute of Indonesia (IFI) and the EFEO.
