Sauwakon RATANAWIJITRASIN

Dr. Sauwakon is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University. She was a Fulbright scholar (1988-1993) and a Takemi Fellow in International Health at Harvard School of Public Health (1995-1996). She received a BS in Pharmacy, an MA in Public Administration, and a PhD in Public Administration (Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, State University of New York at Albany). Her dissertation won the best dissertation award from the U.S. National Association of School of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) in 1993.

Her academic interests are in the areas of policy and management, thinking skills, education, sustainable development, and pharmaceutical and health systems.

Previously, Dr. Sauwakon served as Director of South-East Asian Ministers of Education Organization-Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED), Deputy Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network, Associate Dean of the College of Public Health at Chulalongkorn University, Deputy Director of Chula Unisearch, Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Association of Thailand, member of the Policy Council of System Dynamics Society. She was also an adviser to the Thai Parliamentary Special Commission on National Health Insurance Bill, and adviser to the World Health Organization on a number of projects.
