Researchers’ positions at IRASEC

These positions are managed by the InSHS and are not the subject of a specific announcement, but are filled every year according to the procedures provided by the InSHS for the various categories of positions (see the InSHS page for more information).

Assignment of CNRS statutory researchers to IRASEC

The mobility file to be submitted to the InSHS management in February-March for an assignment in September.

The mobility file must include :

  • a research project
  • an updated CV
  • a letter of intent
  • a letter of acceptance from the Director of the USR or UMI
  • a letter of acceptance from the director of the sending unit.

The complete file must be sent, by email, around March (see CNRS website), to Sylvie Demurger (DAS Europe et international - demurger(at)gate.cnrs.fr) and to Diane Brami (UMIFRE Delegate - diane.brami(at)cnrs-dir.fr).

Hosting of lecturer-researchers (University) in CNRS delegation at IRASEC

Approach in your University

Delegations abroad follow the normal procedure of the reception campaign as a teacher-researcher delegation, generally launched in October November. The schedule of delegation requests is specific to each university and necessarily involves successive votes by the UFR Council and UFR Scientific Council and then by the university authorities (CA and Scientific Council). The teacher-researcher must obtain a favourable opinion from his university for his departure in delegation, which then transmits the file to the CNRS.

Approach with the laboratory management

The teacher-researcher must inform the director (jerome.samuel(at)irasec.com) of his application and send him a copy of his application file to the CNRS by a letter of motivation, the proposed research project and in which research area he is enrolled and a CV. This is in order to obtain a letter of support.
In his letter, the teacher-researcher must explain how a delegation to the place of assignment he wishes (Bangkok or another city in South-East Asia) is useful for his research but also what he can bring to IRASEC in terms of projects (personal and collective), local and regional cooperation (universities and local research institutes).

Campaign results and allocation

Requests for delegation are examined and classified by the councils by section and then by the CNRS General Council. The CNRS’ response arrives in the spring (April-May). If the application is accepted, the reception at IRASEC begins in September of the following year.
During your assignment abroad, the Institute expects researchers not only to carry out their personal research project, but also to participate actively in the animation of the scientific life of the unit, in coordination with its Director. This active participation includes, but is not limited to, their regular presence on the unit’s premises, the supervision of students, the organisation of scientific events, and participation in the submission of research projects for the unit.

Support for short-term international mobility (SMI) (from 3 to 9 months)
Researchers/Teachers - researchers at IRASEC

Within the framework of the SMI, Support for International Mobility, and in support of the development of scientific projects with an international dimension, InSHS offers researchers, including teacher-researchers and research engineers, units that it co-manages, assistance for carrying out research activities abroad.
This assistance covers all disciplines and all types of research missions (field work, consultation of sources, project development, collaborative writing of books or articles, etc.) and applies to all destinations.

Doctoral contracts with international mobility

The InSHS opens a call for applications for the award of 4 doctoral contracts of 36 months in autumn for a submission of the application is usually mid-December. The purpose of the call is to examine applications submitted by a supervisor or co-supervisors qualified to supervise a thesis in a doctoral school, who propose a doctoral subject.

These dossiers must always be designed on the principle of a scientific set-up developed jointly between a research unit in France whose CNRS is supervised or co-supervised and a research unit abroad such as IRASEC, in which doctoral students must spend 20 months. Subjects involving several units abroad are admissible. All disciplines in the humanities and social sciences are eligible.

For the selected subjects, the supervisors are responsible for managing the recruitment of the doctoral student, after validation of the application by the InSHS. The doctoral contract begins on 1 October of the following year. The proposed subject must be the subject of a thesis with a first registration at the beginning of the 2019 academic year. Applications directly submitted by doctoral candidates will not be evaluated.
