Abstract
The thesis aims to study the performance of oral narratives in the teaching of literature in Timor-Leste, South-East Asia, from the teaching practice of some professors. Analysis of the formal and cultural specificities of oral narratives, translated and written in Portuguese by young Timorese in the course of literature has made it possible to note the formation of places of narrative of ancestral myths within the framework of the modern and contemporary configuration of East Timor. The mythical narratives are toldorally by teachers and students as a counterpoint to in vitro educational policies which are intended to define the teaching of literature for secondary education and which prove insufficient to cover literary and cultural phenomena in the country. The imbalance between educational policies and the practice of teachers also appears in the literature textbooks distributed in the public education network. The analysis shows that the textbooks refer to Timorese oral literature as art and ignore local forms of subjectivation and silence local cultural references. Timorese cultural objects are configured in the Eurocentric and colonialist category of “lusophony”, presented in the didactic material as given a-priori identity. In this context, the study of oral narration practices offers alternatives to the teaching of literature and makes it possible to map artistic practices in accordance with the conception of the Person and with the predominant cultural translation practices in Timor-Leste. The oral narratives that make up the corpus will be categorized through the studies of Paul Zumthor ; and analyzed according to an empirical epistemology based on the theoretical contribution of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. Timorese cultural objects are configured in the Eurocentric and colonialist category of “lusophony”, presented in the didactic material as given a-priori identity. In this context, the study of oral narration practices offers alternatives to the teaching of literature and makes it possible to map artistic practices in accordance with the conception of the Person and with the predominant cultural translation practices in Timor-Leste.
