A university professor, she teaches economic history and geopolitics of Southeast Asia at the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales de Paris (Inalco). After having directed the Centre de préparation aux échanges internationaux (CPEI), she is currently vice-president in charge of international affairs. Since 2006, she has also directed the journal Péninsule. She is the author of ten books on South-East Asia and South China, including Brunei, de la thalassocratie à la rente (Paris, CNRS Éditions, 2012).
