Doctoral Winter School: Sustainable Development Studies in Southeast Asia (SUDSSEA)

The Research Institute of Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC) organises annually a doctoral winter school, in collaboration with a range of European and Southeast Asian universities and research centres.
In 2024, the IRASEC Winter school will be dedicated to Sustainable Development Studies in Southeast Asia, and will be co-organised and co-hosted by the Faculty of Sociology and Anthropology, Thammasat University and the Center for Integrative Development Studies, University of the Philippines in Diliman.

The coup of February 1st, 2021 in Myanmar brought misery to many millions of people across the country. Widespread opposition to military rule also inspired a variety of resourceful and creative gestures of defiance among people across the country, across almost every sector and across different ethnic groups, with many leading roles assumed by youth. While the mainstream revolution self-identifies with violent means, the majority of people have opted for civilian resistance, more or less openly expressed. Attempts to describe the impact of the coup on everyday life highlights the multi-dimensional nature of the resistance, and the diversity of expression in an extremely constrained context.

Internship

Offre de stage pour l’année 2025

L’IRASEC accueille chaque année trois stagiaires pour une durée de quatre mois à Bangkok (Thaïlande). Ce stage à plein temps offre aux étudiants l’opportunité de travailler dans un laboratoire de recherche en sciences humaines et sociales sur le sud-est asiatique contemporain. Les périodes de stages sont : janvier-avril, mai-août et septembre-décembre.

La date limite pour l’envoi des dossiers de candidature au stage 2 janvier au 30 avril 2025 est le 15 septembre 2024, mais nous invitons les candidats à postuler dès à présent.
