Dans le cadre d’un entretien, Christine Cabasset, chercheuse associée à l’IRASEC, a répondu aux questions de l’Institut des relations internationales et stratégiques – IRIS, lequel est paru le 1^er septembre, sous le titre : « Le conflit Cambodge – Thaïlande : quelles portée et conséquences pour l’ASEAN ? ».

Les différents postes sont gérés par l’Institut des Sciences Humaines et Sociales (InSHS) du CNRS et ne font pas l’objet d’annonces spécifiques. Ils sont pourvus tous les ans selon les modalités prévues par l’InSHS pour les différentes catégories de postes (voir la page de l’InSHS pour plus d’information).

L’IRASEC met au concours deux bourses d’aide à la recherche sur le terrain. Ces bourses s’adressent à des personnes de toutes nationalités, inscrites en doctorat dans une université française et poursuivant des recherches sur l’Asie du Sud-Est contemporaine. Elles sont destinées à mener des enquêtes de terrain sur la thématique de la thèse. Les problématiques doivent apporter une perspective originale et novatrice sur l’Asie du Sud-Est, relevant des champs disciplinaires couverts par les activités de recherche de l’IRASEC (voir les axes de recherche).

This project comprises a one-day academic study day and a half-day writing session (targeting the publishing of a special issue in an academic journal), scheduled for 11-12 September 2025 at Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Political Science. These collective activities are designed to facilitate the building of a network that can be mobilized for other, longer-term projects.

The Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia implements the French Government Scholarship Programme « France Excellence » among which are the « Séjours Scientifiques de Haut Niveau (SSHN) ». Addressed to academic and research staff wishing to spend some time in a higher education or research institution in France, the SSHN also aim to be a tool to increase the cooperation with French institutions. Between 2023 and 2025, 26 Filipino researchers received this grant for a 2 to 4 weeks mobility in France.

Éric Frécon, adjunct researcher at IRASEC, wrote an article for the newspaper from Papua New Guinea Post-Courier about the military exercise Talisman Sabre in wich France participated this year.

Jérôme Samuel was received by the School of Languages and Tourism (HaUI), Vietnam, on the 4th July 2025. He had the opportunity to discuss with Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tue, Director of the School of Languages and Tourism, the potential for cooperation in the fields of linguistic and cultural research, the organization of scientific seminars and the implementation of international training and academic exchange programs.

Southeast Asia is a region characterized by its diversity, particularly in terms of languages. This makes questions relating to local languages particularly acute, especially in terms of their place in education systems, whether as languages of instruction or as subjects. The stakes of these choices in terms of school language policies are indeed multiple and crucial : preservation of linguistic and cultural diversity ; access to education for ethnic minorities ; implications in terms of conception and adherence to national identities.
